Eco Fashion

The project is co-financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Lodz and implemented in partnership with the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz and the Institute of Textile Architecture of the Lodz University of Technology. All activities of the project are aimed at creating by the participants – 640 children aged 7-14 from 32 communes of the Lodz region – an Eco Fashion show.

Activities preceding the creation, by each of the communes participating in the project, of a fashion show include workshop activities taking place in partner institutions, including: design and practical implementation of clothes made of recycled materials, creation of ecological fashion accessories and a workshop on sustainable management of environmental resources. The workshops are carried out with the use of recycled materials and materials: used clothing, fabric fragments, felt, haberdashery, sewing accessories, newspapers, cardboard.

The workshops are based on the idea of sustainable management of environmental resources, each workshop is preceded by a presentation on what is ecology, what is the purpose of taking care of the environment and saving energy, what is waste segregation and what is its purpose (the concepts of recycling and upcycling), what habits need to be developed in ourselves so that we can say that we take care of the environment and understand the threats posed by excessive consumption, degradation of ecosystems, what is the greenhouse effect, excessive logging, soil erosion, etc. and what to do to reduce environmental pollution, prevent waste and how to manage it and why it is worth considering before we throw something away - food, clothing, paper box…

The workshops are complemented by an educational visit to the Central Museum of Textiles in Lodz.
