KACPER WITKOWSKI – DISTURBING VISIONS OF THE FUTURE

A world without water, hunger, war, ubiquitous surveillance – events from films and anti-utopian books are slowly becoming a reality that we and, in an optimistic variant, future generations will have to deal with. The series of fabrics „Disturbing visions of the future” is a presentation of fears and anxieties faced by most globally thinking and conscious people. More and more often the method of governing the society is mental terror, again the voices of radicals are heard louder and louder.  Cotton fabrics made with the technique of silk-screen printing show the progressive degradation of morality and blurring of human relations. Stigmatizing such behaviors is one of the most important tasks of artists nowadays, and the fabric as a usable object is a great carrier for such statements.
